<p>Agricultural expansion and intensification significantly contribute to the decline of global biodiversity. Despite this, agricultural landscapes, particularly in densely populated regions like the Gangetic plain in India, support diverse avian species. However, challenges such as intensive farming practices, habitat loss, and limited conservation initiatives pose significant threats to bird populations. By understanding the complexities of farmer-bird interactions, this study aims to inform targeted conservation interventions that promote sustainable farming practices and enhance bird conservation. We explored the perception and attitude of farmers towards cropland birds, examining how their knowledge, decisions, and practices influence bird conservation efforts. A total of 158 farmers were interviewed in the agricultural areas situated in the 500&#xa0;m buffer of six forest patches in Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal, India from October 2022 to January 2024. The findings indicated that farmers, as primary stakeholders, possess valuable ecological expertise and traditional knowledge that can significantly contribute to biodiversity conservation within agricultural landscapes. The results emphasize the need for integrated conservation programs tailored to developing nations, focusing on the pivotal role of farmers in fostering a harmonious coexistence between agriculture and avian biodiversity.</p>
