摘要

Extensor mechanism disruption after total knee arthroplasty constitutes a devastating complication and can be classified as acute or chronic. The latter cannot be addressed with primary repair, and autologous as well as allogeneic augmentation techniques have resulted in poor outcomes. Recently developed treatment strategies involve the use of a synthetic mesh for extensor mechanism augmentation. This publication illustrates the surgical workflow in order to address disorders of the extensor mechanism after total knee arthroplasty. Several studies have reported promising mid-term results with the use of this technique, which is described and also illustrated with a surgical video.
