Die irreponible Kniegelenkluxation bei Niedrigrasanztrauma

We present an 87-year-old man who suffered a knee dislocation as a result of a low-velocity injury. Owing to an irreducible knee dislocation emergency surgery was necessary. After open reduction we carried out a ligament reconstruction and stabilized the knee with a joint-bridging external fixator.
In order to minimize subsequent damage, immediate surgical intervention should be performed. We think that older patients in particular benefit from a one-stage treatment.
