摘要

This study aims to determine the psychological well-being of a sample of Spanish older adults and analyze the influence of loneliness, physical health, satisfaction with life and certain sociodemographic variables on their psychological well-being. The sample consisted of 206 older adults (Mage = 67.45, SD = 9.16) who completed the WHO Well-Being Index (WHO-5) survey, as well as questionnaires assessing their satisfaction with life, physical health and loneliness. A hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to examine the association between the assessed variables and psychological well-being. The measured variables provide an explanation of 49% of the variance of psychological well-being. Being male, a higher satisfaction with life, better physical health and a lower perception of loneliness were associated or were predictive of a high level of psychological well-being. These findings provide knowledge for the development of programmes aimed at improving the psychological well-being of older people, primarily for women, reducing the negative impact of loneliness and improving physical health and life satisfaction.
