摘要

The paper focuses on the impact of Bayesian techniques in structural health monitoring, underlining their importance across multiple domains like civil engineering and aerospace. Bayesian Fusion of Multiple Data Sources was considered as an approach aimed at tackling the problem of integrating heterogeneous sensors in order to get a better understanding of the structural health. Even with the computational complexity concerns, the author’s propositions demonstrate the practicality of Bayesian approaches in several case studies. Primary contributions include demonstrating the effectiveness of Bayesian approaches in managing uncertainties, context information, domain knowledge, and in improving the interpretability of the models. Implementing Bayesian models could improve the reliability, efficiency, and safety of infrastructure systems which will ultimately enhance public safety while reducing costs. The paper ends by encouraging users to look at other documents related to engineering and innovation for new avenues of research to study the role of Bayesian modeling further.
