Dongba Handmade Papermaking: Constructing an XR Multimodal Narrative System for Intangible Cultural Heritage
摘要
Dongba paper is a traditional handmade paper of the Naxi ethnic group in Yunnan, China, known for its unique appearance and craftsmanship, and as a carrier of Dongba paintings and Dongba sutras, it carries deep cultural significance. However, in the present time of information explosion, this traditional technique and its cultural value have gradually been marginalized. To enhance public awareness of Dongba paper and its culture, this paper proposes an XR multimodal narrative system for Dongba handmade paper based on Web GL technology, which integrates multimedia elements such as VR panoramic photography, VR panoramic video, VR stereoscopic video, and 3D scanning through infographics to make intangible cultural assets vivid and easy to understand. User feedback has confirmed the effectiveness of the system in improving users’ knowledge of the intangible cultural heritage of Dongba handmade paper making. This innovative display not only enriches the user experience but also allows the complexity and uniqueness of Dongba culture to be displayed.
