Implementing Multi-stroke Mid-Air Handwriting and Analyzing Its Use Cases
摘要
Recently, the demand for contactless interaction in public places has been increasing due to the influence of COVID-19. Mid-air handwriting (MAH) is attracting attention as a new type of contactless interaction in addition to voice and gesture input. However, few studies mention use cases of how to utilize MAH in practical applications. In this study, we analyze the potential of MAH from two approaches to promote practical use. First, we implemented a prototype for MAH input, which was one of the use cases of MAH, and we compared it with voice input. We analyzed the features of MAH that were not present in the voice input. Second, we collected use cases of MAH and selected them according to the focus group. We then extracted the features based on the selected use cases. As a result, we summarize four notable features. In addition, we also share findings on multistroke MAH, which is rare in the study of MAH.
