Roadblocks to Digital Classrooms for Better Learning Outcomes: An Interpretive Structural Modelling Approach

Technology has permeated every aspect of human life and is spreading its roots in the education sector. The mechanism of imparting classroom instruction is changing significantly with digital technologies. One latest application of this new tendency is the digital classroom. Using computer technology can improve educational quality drastically, but it is not optimally used due to certain hindrances. The contemporary study aims to identify the most significant roadblocks to digital classrooms and methods to eliminate the blockers to optimal implementation of digital classrooms. To accomplish the study interviews were conducted with educators of schools in India to find out the major hindrances optimal implementation of digital classrooms. The hindrances were further conformed using existing literature in the field. To explore the novelty of the study, researchers have conducted a systematic literature review through Biblioshiny software. Lastly, ISM technique and MICAMAC analysis were used to corroborate the most significant hindrances. Two themes, namely “Digital Inclusivity” and “Digital Simulation” The results revealed the most significant hindrances to the implementation of digital classrooms and that mitigating these major hindrances can lower the effect on other hindrances. Eliminating the most challenging barriers can improve the digital classroom learning which would in turn result in effective implementation of digital classrooms and can be a benediction for the educational institutions. The article further provides with suggestions to the educational institutions for effective implementation of digital classrooms.
