Secure Electronic Health Records Distribution in a Blockchain Enabled H-IoT System

With the potential of an infallible framework for keeping encrypted data across many industries, blockchain technology is quickly becoming a hot topic. The rise of cryptocurrency has made this technology’s foray into uncharted territory all the more appealing. Emerging from a patient-centered approach to the integration of decentralized networks, blockchain technology holds significant promise in the healthcare industry. This includes the precision of Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs). This work explores the integration of blockchain technology with the Healthcare Internet of Things (H-IoT) to enhance the security, interoperability, and efficiency of Electronic Health Record (EHR) distribution. A system leveraging Hyperledger Fabric is proposed, utilizing a permissioned blockchain architecture to ensure secure data transmission and storage of EHRs. Also, the work focuses on cryptographic techniques and consensus mechanisms to maintain data integrity and confidentiality. The system’s interoperability with existing healthcare IT infrastructures is evaluated, demonstrating seamless data exchange among providers, systems, and devices. Performance assessments reveal the system’s scalability, transaction throughput, and resource efficiency. Usability testing with healthcare professionals and patients confirms the system’s practicality and acceptance. The findings reveals the potential of this blockchain-enabled H-IoT system to revolutionize healthcare delivery by providing a secure, interoperable, and efficient platform for EHR distribution.
