Investigating the Factors Influencing Online Learning for Sustainability in Higher Education

This study aims to investigate the variables that influence students’ behavioral intentions regarding the use of online learning for sustainability in higher education. It adds two new constructs, affective commitment and switching cost, to the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) in order to better understand online learning acceptance. Data was collected from 536 students and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings show that all the hypothesis are supported, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, lecturers' influence, affective commitment, and switching cost all have a significant influence on the behavioral intention to adopt online learning. This research examines students’ preparedness for online learning, identifies the variables influencing students' acceptance of it. The study also reveals strategies like online learning developers should offer user-friendly and easy to use online learning solutions for higher education. Virtual reality and artificial intelligence technology must be used to maximize student engagement throughout the educational process. This could hasten the growth of online learning infrastructure in higher education and offer the chance to support learner communities in embracing and regularly utilising online learning resources.
