Atlas of Science Collaboration, 1971–2020
摘要
Delving beyond national boundaries to gain a comprehensive understanding of international collaborative research at the institutional level is paramount for stakeholders involved in shaping global strategies in science and technology. To address this issue, we explore the dynamic landscape of interinstitutional collaborative research across 15 natural scientific disciplines using open data from OpenAlex. This extensive exploration covers the period from 1971 to 2020, allowing a detailed examination of primary contributors to scientific output and their collaborative relationships through coauthorships, both nationally and institutionally. The findings are presented visually on world maps and diagrams, providing a lucid and insightful illustration of significant variations in collaborative patterns across diverse fields and time periods. These visual representations serve as valuable tools for science policymakers, diplomats, and institutional researchers, furnishing a comprehensive overview of global collaboration dynamics and facilitating their intuitive understanding of the evolving nature of these partnerships over time.
