摘要

Vehicles in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) create wireless connections and participate in routing by sending information to other nodes. Despite the recent growth in popularity of IoV, there are still issues with high vehicle speeds, frequent interruptions, and a dynamic topology, which makes the creation of efficient routing protocols that are more appropriate to route packets effectively to their final destination extremely difficulty. Traditional mobility models are unsuitable for simulating realistic vehicle trajectories in IoV due to the physical environment and road constructions within. This study explores the interaction between the SUMO (Simulation of Urban Mobility) road traffic simulator and the NS-3 network simulator. It assesses the effectiveness of well-known routing protocols and emphasizes the value of a mobility simulator like SUMO for simulating IoV networks. The protocol performance assessment used in this work is implemented using C++ code that is well integrated into NS-3. The study objectively evaluates parameters such as overhead and Goodput for real-time AODV, real-time OLSR, real-time DSDV, and real-time DSR protocols by utilizing the combined capabilities of network simulator NS-3 and SUMO.
