A Wideband Isolation Enhanced MIMO Antenna Design for WIFI 6E Applications

In this research article, we describe the wide band lamp-shaped MIMO system applicable for Wi-Fi 6E applications. The fundamental concept behind the design is the creation of a standard 2-port MIMO antenna. Compact slots are introduced in the patch of the MIMO design. Good isolation is achieved in this dual port wideband antenna by the defected ground structure (DGS). A three-dimensional uniform slot through the ground under lamp-shaped patch is implanted to achieve wide bandwidth (8.5 GHz). This lamp-shaped MIMO system resonates at multiple resonant frequencies. The performance of this MIMO has been studied at different places with different numbers (two and three slots) of slots in the entire width of the ground. The defected ground structure with the slots in it enhances bandwidth of the two-port antenna. Despite the proximity of the individual port of antennas to one another, every combination of mutual couplings between ports displays greater than 25 dB isolation. The antenna design has been done and verified using the simulation tool HFSS v19. Simulated gain of the designed system is 5 dB for all the ground structure except with 2 slots in the ground. The simulation results satisfy MIMO diversity properties like Envelope correlation coefficient < 0.5, DG > 9.98, and other radiation characteristics.
