<p>Seasonally Dry Tropical Forests (SDTF) comprise 42% of global tropical and subtropical forest cover, characterized by deciduous vegetation and prolonged dry seasons. Within this biome, the South Deccan Plateau Dry Deciduous Forest (SDPDDF) includes eight protected areas, many of which remain underexplored. Among them, Bannerghatta National Park (BNP) stands out for its unique ecological landscape and conservation potential, yet remains largely understudied. Using standardized 0.1&#xa0;ha transect protocol, 12,544 woody individuals (dbh &gt;1&#xa0;cm) were recorded across 50 transects. A total of 189 species were identified, with mean species richness of 37.04 ± 9.01 (SD) and 250.88 ± 75.28 individuals per transect, values comparable to those from the Eastern Ghats. The total basal area (25.84 ± 11.36 m<sup>2</sup>&#xa0;ha<sup>−1</sup>) and above-ground biomass (126.75 ± 84.25&#xa0;Mg&#xa0;ha<sup>−1</sup>) were comparatively high, consistent with values reported for relatively undisturbed dry deciduous forests in India. Diversity indices (Shannon: 2.83 ± 0.47; Simpson: 0.88 ± 0.09) were similar to patterns observed in other SDTFs. Fabaceae was the most dominant family, consistent with trends across tropical dry forests. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) classification revealed 26.62% slightly dense, 39.98% moderately dense, and 34.76% highly dense vegetation. Kriging-based spatial interpolation indicated heterogeneous vegetation density with zones of elevated richness and biomass. This study fills a critical knowledge gap in the SDPDDF ecoregion, highlighting BNP as an underexplored landscape of high ecological value. These findings emphasize its significance as a peri-urban dry forest and carbon sink, reinforcing the need for vigilant monitoring, adaptive management, and long-term conservation strategies.</p>
