<p>Distribution and diversity of Luciolinae (Coleoptera: Lampyridae) fauna has been described along three different habitat assemblages (HAs) situated throughout ten eco-regions characterized with diversified land use and land cover (LULC) patterns in two eastern Indian states. Those HAs had been categorized based on significant differences in the abundance of Luciolinae species (Kruskal Wallis test, H, <i>χ</i><sup>2</sup> = 10.67; <i>P</i> = 0.02). The HA with highest precipitation rate (average annual rainfall 2147 mm) supported maximum occurrence of species (7). Field samplings in diversified habitats (e.g., sites near aquatic bodies, grasslands, agricultural fields, roadside vegetation patches) during March 2017 to February 2020 in two eastern Indian states have resulted in seven species of Luciolinae under four genera, <i>Abscondita</i> (3 species), <i>Asymmetricata</i> (1 species), <i>Pteroptyx</i> (1 species) and <i>Sclerotia</i> (2 species). Remote sensing studies had shown riverine habitats to have positive effects on Luciolinae abundance (upto 94% for maximum). Eco-degradation of forested ecosystems at HA1 (86%) and HA3 (94%) exhibited considerable negative impacts on firefly assemblages. Species Indicator Values (IndVal) were highest for <i>Abscondita perplexa</i> and <i>Abscondita terminalis</i> (63 for each). The Luciolinae Conservation index (LCI) based on their diversity and abundance was recorded highest (5.33) at habitat assemblage assuming highest precipitation (HA1). Habitat assemblages HA2 and HA3 were found to be influenced by moderate (HA2) and lowest (HA3) levels of precipitation respectively and were characterized with respective LCIn values (standardized Luciolinae conservation index) of 0.96 and 1.02, indicating quite higher conservation prospects. Identification of the favorable habitat patches may facilitate the long-term conservation of these sensitive ecological entomoindicators.</p>
