Assessment on Asphalt Pavement Nonlinear Analysis Techniques of Everstress Computer Program

Everstress and KENLAYER are two computer programs developed based on Burmister’s layered theory, which can be used for nonlinear analysis of asphalt pavement structures. However, compared to KENLAYER, there are very few public reports on applying Everstress for nonlinear analysis. The reliability and correctness of this program still require further exploration. The article summarizes and compares the differences between these two programs in terms of nonlinear material model, stress point, stress modification, iteration accuracy and efficiency when conducting nonlinear analysis. Further discussion was carried out on the potential loopholes that may exist in Everstress when conducting nonlinear analysis, focusing on the aspects mentioned above. Specific example has shown that when conducting linear elastic analysis, the results of both programs are consistent with each other. However, significant differences exist when conducting nonlinear analysis. This may be due to the lack of maturity in Everstress’s nonlinear analysis capability, therefore caution is advised when using Everstress.
