Review of Environmental Emissions and Conventional Performance of Warm Mix Asphalt Technology with Evotherm Additive
摘要
The core literatures of warm mix asphalt with Evotherm additive were collected from China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Web of Science, the research status of warm mix asphalt technology with Evotherm additive were discussed. The energy saving and emission reduction of warm mix asphalt technology were analyzed, the performance of warm mix asphalt (WMA) and WMA mixture was elaborated, the design method of WMA mixture was also illustrated. The results showed that the main pollutant emissions of WMA mixture with Evotherm additive is reduced more than 30%. The construction temperature of WMA mixture with Evotherm additive is often determined by equal volume principle. The mixing and compaction temperature of WMA mixture with base asphalt, WMA mixture with Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) modified asphalt and WMA mixture with rubberized asphalt are reduced separately by 18–28 °C and 24–28 °C, 11–45 °C and 18–40 °C, 20–35 °C and 15–35 °C. The simple mechanical stirring and shear mixing are often used to prepare warm mix asphalt with Evotherm additive. The stirring speed of simple mechanical stirring is mostly 1000–1200 r/min. The stirring rate of shear mixing with low speed is 300–1000 r/min, the preparation time is selected often as 10 min or 20 min. The high and low temperature performance of different WMA mixture is enhanced, the water stability performance of above asphalt mixture is basically unchanged. But the long-term water stability performance of Evotherm WMA mixture with SBS modified asphalt is poor. The asphalt content and construction temperature of WMA mixture are determined in recommended design method, and the performance of WMA mixture designed by using the above method is better. The research on long-term performance and test data of WMA technology with Evotherm additive is suggested to conduct in the future. The results will provide reference for recognition of road performance and method for determining construction temperature of WMA mixture.
