Analysis of Performance Grades for Polymer-Modified Asphalt: A Technical Note
摘要
The SUPERPAVE mix design requires asphalt binders with performance grades (PG) suited to local climates. In Saudi Arabia, locally produced PG 64 − 22 binders often fail under high temperatures, necessitating polymer modification. This study evaluates polymer-modified asphalts (PMA) made with six polymers including Lucolast 7010, Anglomak 2144, Pavflex 140, SBS KTR 401, EE-2, and Crumb Rubber, based on SUPERPAVE standards. All modifiers improved high-temperature performance, meeting rutting resistance requirements, while reducing creep at low temperatures, remaining compliant with specifications.
