Field Evaluation of Pavement wear in Kazan, Russia
摘要
The aim of this study is a pavement wear investigation in Kazan, Russia and improvement of asphalt pavement in terms of skid resistance. This study includes the monitoring of rut depth propagation on the main streets of the city, laboratory testing of the pavement samples and designing of a pavement according to recommendations obtained in our previous studies. For this study, rut depth propagation monitoring using 2 m straightedge and laboratory testing of the pavement samples using the Prall Test machine were performed for 3 years at 16 different points in the street network of the city. One of the streets was paved with wear-resistant asphalt mix. This study presents results of monitoring and wear resistant pavement designing method. The correlation between abrasion wear of pavement and the Prall Test value was found. It was found that the most vulnerable part of the street is before intersections due to vehicle acceleration and deceleration. Average rut depth propagation on the street with wear resistant pavement is 0.95 mm per cold season, which is lower than in the other parts of the city.
