Evolution from General Contingency Theory to Theory of Flexible Systems Management for Competitiveness
摘要
This paper critically reviews one of the most critical and dominant general contingency theory management paradigms (GCT). Studies across different areas using contingency approaches are also highlighted. Contingency management theory and practice apply in a contingent, not universal, sense. Just as a business organization must use process, quantitative, behavioral, and system concepts and techniques to achieve maximum goal attainment, the administration also uses these concepts, contingent on different variables. The issue of ‘situation’ is further developed in the Flexible Systems Management (FSM) paradigm. It presents a review of perspectives on flexibility. The theory of FSM from a contingency perspective is deliberated. Finally, the impact of FSM on competitiveness is highlighted.
