Purpose <p>The purpose of this study was to compare the cultivation patterns and mechanization status of Chinese cabbage in the USA and South Korea. The objective was to identify differences in mechanization levels and develop strategies suitable for the Korean agricultural environment.</p> Methods <p>A literature review was conducted using the SCOPUS and ScienceDirect databases, and agricultural statistics were collected from FAOSTAT, USDA-NASS, and KOSIS. Additional data were obtained through collaboration with agricultural professionals and field experts in the USA and South Korea.</p> Results <p>In the USA, standardized cultivation patterns and advanced machinery have elevated the level of mechanization across all stages of cabbage production, from sowing to harvesting. In contrast, South Korea has exceptionally low mechanization rates, particularly in transplanting and harvesting, owing to its small-scale farming systems and topographical constraints.</p> Conclusions <p>To enhance agricultural efficiency in South Korea, it is essential to develop compact and multifunctional agricultural machines tailored to local conditions. In parallel, standardizing cultivation patterns and integrating mechanization across production stages should help improve labor productivity and establish a practical foundation for broader mechanization.</p>

Purpose
