A Modified Double-tuned Harmonic Filter to Improve Power Quality in Distribution Systems with Large-Scale Inverter Loads
摘要
This paper proposes a modified double-tuned filter (MDF) that effectively mitigates harmonics from nonlinear inverter loads by avoiding system resonance. The MDF exhibits a wideband absorption characteristic and improves both harmonic distortion and power factor. Experimental verification in a 22.9 kV distribution system with numerous adjustable-speed drives showed reductions of total harmonic distortion (ITHD) from 56.6% to 3.6%, satisfying IEEE 519 limits. Compared with conventional hybrid or series-tuned filters, the MDF achieves superior harmonic suppression with lower inductance, compact structure, and high economic efficiency.
