Comparative Analysis of Transmission Performance of Radial Asynchronous Magnetic Couplings with Different Structures

There are two main structure types of radial asynchronous magnetic coupling, cage rotor type and solid rotor type. In order to deeply discuss difference of transmission performance between the two types of radial asynchronous magnetic coupling, a cage rotor asynchronous magnetic coupling and a solid rotor asynchronous magnetic coupling with same structure size are compared and analyzed. The magnetic flux circuit and magnetic field model of two magnetic couplings are established, and the electromagnetic torque equation is derived. The theoretical analysis results show the similarities and differences of two magnetic couplings in magnetic flux circuit, magnetic field model, permanent magnet working points, mechanical characteristics etc. Then two experimental prototypes were developed, and the experimental platform was built for experiments. The theoretical analysis results were verified by dynamic loading experiments. In the stable speed range, the experimental values and theoretical values under different slip angles had an error of less than 4%, and the experimental results also showed that under the same geometric conditions, the torque density of the cage rotor type magnetic coupling was 2.3 ~ 2.4 times that of the solid rotor type.
