Estimating Operating Points in Wind Power Systems Using Cluster Centers

摘要

To ensure the safe and efficient operation of a wind energy system, close monitoring of the system operating conditions is essential. An effective monitoring strategy involves analyzing the locations of operating points. To analyze the locations of system operating points, we employ the cluster centers that represent the system response characteristics. These cluster centers are typically determined using a fuzzy clustering method. Subsequently, the locations of operating points are estimated using a relative distance index, which measures the distances from an operating point to the respective cluster centers. This paper introduces a new measure, called the extended relative distance index, and proposes rules based on this index for estimating the locations of operating points in relation to the cluster centers. The proposed method can confine the location of the operating points to an operating region with two cluster centers or an operating region with a minimal number of cluster centers. As a result, the proposed method offers a more accurate estimation of operating conditions by reducing the number of cluster centers that are required for determining the location of the operating points.
