<p>The adoption of a circular bioeconomy can significantly contribute to accelerating the green transition in Africa. The continent is endowed with abundant natural resources that can be sustainably and efficiently utilized to stimulate economic growth while mitigating climate change. The circular bioeconomy approach involves the use of renewable resources that are regenerated over time, while waste is minimized and valorized to enhance value addition and reduce the carbon footprint. This review article examines vital tools and technologies that can accelerate the transition towards a circular bioeconomy in Africa. This review examines key areas of the circular bioeconomy, such as sustainable agriculture, biomaterials, and bioenergy. Sustainable agricultural practices, such as agroforestry, organic farming, and precision agriculture, have the potential to improve soil health, enhance biodiversity, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Biomaterials, including bioplastics, bio-based fibers, and bio lubricants, can replace fossil-based counterparts, reduce the carbon footprint, and enhance value addition. Bioenergy, such as biogas and biofuels, are alternatives to fossil fuels, contributing to energy security and reducing emissions. Emerging innovative technologies, such as biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and blockchain, which can enhance the circular bioeconomy, have been highlighted. The opportunities and challenges of implementing a circular bioeconomy in Africa were also discussed, including policies and strategies that promote sustainability, local technological innovation, and financing options. The implementation of a circular bioeconomy in Africa requires a multistakeholder approach, collaboration between the public and private sectors, and financing incentives. This review provides critical insights into the circular bioeconomy approach as a tool for achieving green transition in Africa, providing practical solutions for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and researchers in the region.</p>
