Effect of Poisson’s Ratio of Developed Coir Latex Composite

Poisson’s ratio, an essential property characterizing the deformation behavior of structural materials, exhibits variability in Coir fibers owing to their inherent anisotropy, or direction-dependent properties. This study deals into the practical implications of uniaxial testing on coir latex composites, a method applied to ascertain fracture properties and Poisson’s ratio across a spectrum of compositions. The experimental setup involves subjecting samples to tensile forces in the warp (longitudinal) direction to observe their response to stretching. Three distinct percentages of coir latex composition were discussed during the experimental process. The calculated Poisson’s ratio values derived from the measured data provide importance into how the material deforms under stress. This paper provides detailed observations into the behavior, interplay between the composition of coir latex composites and their resulting mechanical characteristics. These findings have the potential to significantly impact the design and application of coir latex composites across various fields.
