Recent Books on Sustainability: New Ideas from Education, Economics, and Psychology
摘要
We offer commentary and reflect on three recent books that address different aspects of the current global wrestling match with seemingly unattainable behavioral, economic, and educational sustainability if current trajectories continue. Clayton Page Aldern’s (2024) The weight of nature: How a changing climate changes our brains, Kate Raworth’s (2018) Doughnut economics: Seven ways to think like a 21st-century economist, and Kerry Shepard’s (2024) The sustainability tales: How university teachers could make the world better grapple with several of the less visible but nevertheless critically important sustainability issues that work to undermine the social, cultural, and economic justice necessary for long-term global stability. Taken together, the three books illuminate complex and interconnected facets of environmental degradation as well as potential directions for countering widespread geocultural unsustainability.
