摘要

Background

Needlescopic surgery has gained much popularity over the past few years.

Aim

To present a new technique for Needlescopic Trans-anal pull-through for treating recto-sigmoid Hirschsprung disease in children.

Method

Needlescopic-Assisted Trans-anal Endorectal Pull-Through was performed using 14-gauge needles. We assessed the blood loss, surgical safety of the procedure, operative time, hospital stay, conversion rate, and satisfaction rate of the patient’s legal guardians regarding cosmetic appearance.

Results

Thirty children (21 male, 9 female) underwent needlescopic-assisted Trans-anal Endorectal Pull-Through. The mean operative time was 90.2 ± 33.3 min (45–150 min). The mean blood loss was 18.1 ± 5.01 ml (6.8–27 ml). The mean hospital stay was 4.8 days (3–6 days). All medical staff reported that it was safe and applicable by filling out a questionnaire immediately after the surgical operation. 97% of children’s legal guardians showed excellent satisfaction regarding cosmetic appearance.

Conclusion

This technique proved a safe and reproducible approach for treating recto-sigmoid Hirschsprung disease in children.
