Convergence of smart machine tools and intelligent technologies based on an open operating system

With the acceleration of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and digital transformation (DX), the machine tool industry is expected to go beyond supplying hardware and deliver flexible, data-driven manufacturing solutions. However, traditional closed computer numerical control (CNC) systems exhibit limitations in large-scale process data collection, system integration, and the implementation of advanced intelligent algorithms. This article presents a smart machine tool built on an open operating system to address these limitations, along with a smart application capable of autonomously recognizing and assessing equipment status.
