<p>Carbon fiber- or glass fiber-reinforced polymer composites are increasingly being applied to high-efficiency mechanical structures in the aerospace, automotive, and renewable energy industries due to their high specific strength and stiffness. However, composites pose many challenges when applied to mechanical structures due to anisotropy, fracture behavior, and difficulties in predicting mechanical properties. Generative artificial intelligence (AI) can be a very powerful tool to overcome these limitations in the design of composite structures. In this paper, we analyze the necessity of generative AI in the design of composite structures and discuss the future direction of generative AI through a case analysis of how it is applied in actual design and research.</p> Graphical Abstract <p></p>

However, composites pose many challenges when applied to mechanical structures due to anisotropy, fracture behavior, and difficulties in predicting mechanical properties.
