摘要

Proper fertilizer management is essential for enhancement of productivity and quality of Indian spinach (Basella alba L.) but most are overlooked. Hence, an experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizer on growth, yield and quality of Indian spinach via nutrient use efficiency and soil fertility. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications based on 8 treatments viz. T1: Control (no use of fertilizer), T2: Recommended dose of N-P-K-S-Zn at 110-15-50-10-3 kg·ha-1, T3: 3 t·ha-1 vermicompost (VC) + 75% of NPKSZn, T4: 3 t·ha-1 poultry manure (PM) + 75% of NPKSZn, T5: 3 t·ha-1 VC + 3 t·ha-1 cowdung (CD) + 50% of NPKSZn, T6: 3 t·ha-1 PM + 3 t·ha-1 CD + 50% of NPKSZn, T7: 3 t·ha-1 VC + 3 t·ha-1 PM + 50% of NPKSZn and T8: 10 t·ha-1 cowdung. The application of 3 t·ha-1 vermicompost with 75% of NPKSZn fertilizer (T3) significantly increased the plant height (50.6 cm), number of leaves (50.8), twig length (47.1 cm), stem diameter (1.55 cm), SPAD value (50.6), total number of twigs per plot (189), individual twig weight (79.4 g) and fresh twig yield (37.6 t·ha-1) followed by the application of 3 t·ha-1 poultry manure with 75% of NPKSZn fertilizer(T4). Greater protein (28.8%) and vitamin C (43.0 mg·100 g-1) content was found in T3 treatment. The nutrient uptake and acquisitions were higher in T3 treatment. Agronomic efficiency and apparent recovery efficiency of N, P, K, S, Zn and B were also prominent in T3 treatment. The T3 treatment assisted in a higher benefit-cost ratio (6.00) and soil fertility improvement. Results suggested that application of 3 t·ha-1 vermicompost with 75% of recommended dose of NPKSZn fertilizer or 3 t·ha-1 poultry manure with 75% of recommended dose of NPKSZn fertilizer can increase the productivity and quality of Indian spinach and encouraged sustainable soil fertility and environmental potency.
