<p>Ectoparasitic infestations by biting midges and water mites on various mosquito species were examined in cattle sheds of West Bengal, India, during the pre- and post-monsoon seasons from 2022 to 2024. A total of 5,381 adult mosquitoes representing 12 species under 4 genera were collected using a mechanical aspirator. Among them, 3 <i>Anopheles hyrcanus</i> and 5 <i>Culex tritaeniorhynchus</i> were found parasitized by the biting midge <i>Culicoides anophelis</i>, while 170 individuals across 6 species, i.e., <i>An. hyrcanus</i>, <i>Cx. tritaeniorhynchus</i>, <i>Cx. vishnui</i>, <i>Mansonia annulifera</i>, <i>Ma. indiana</i>, and <i>Ma. uniformis</i> were found parasitized by the water mite <i>Arrenurus</i> sp. Water mites were not found on individuals of <i>An. barbirostris</i>, <i>An. subpictus</i>, <i>An. annularis</i>, <i>Armigeres subalbatus</i>, <i>Cx. quinquefasciatus</i>, and <i>Cx. gelidus.</i> A total of 385 <i>Arrenurus</i> mites were recovered with an intensity of 2.26 mites per infected mosquito (95% CI: 2.04–2.49). In the pre-and post-monsoon seasons, the prevalence of mite infestation was 1.38% (95% CI: 0.97–1.97) and 4.36% (95% CI: 3.71–5.13), respectively. The results of Jacobs’ selectivity index showed that <i>Arrenurus</i> sp. had the highest host electivity for <i>Ma. annulifera</i> compared with other mosquito species. The abdominal region of mosquitoes was the most favoured attachment site of <i>Arrenurus</i> mites over other anatomical areas. The findings of this study are expected to provide important ecological insights into host-ectoparasite associations, seasonal patterns, and host specificity of <i>Cu. anophelis</i> and <i>Arrenurus</i> sp. with mosquito communities in livestock-associated habitats.</p>
