<p>Recent contributions on tetrigids have introduced the division of the genus <i>Lophotettix</i> Hancock, 1909&#xa0;into two subgenera, described a species of <i>Phelene</i> Bolívar, 1887, provided data on morphological variability, and included distributional records of species, primarily based on the citizen science platform iNaturalist. However, some inconsistencies remain and are addressed here to resolve certain taxonomic ambiguities. The subgenus <i>Lophotettix</i> (<i>Corticotettix</i>) Kasalo &amp; Skejo, 2022 <b>n. syn.</b> is proposed as a synonym of <i>Lophotettix</i> Hancock 1909&#xa0;s.s., and <i>Phelen reinschmidti</i> Kasalo, Husemann &amp; Skejo, 2024 <b>n. syn.</b> is proposed as a synonym for <i>Phelene maroon</i> Cadena-Castañeda &amp; Tumbrinck, 2021. The genus <i>Lophotettix</i> is reclassified into two subgenera: <i>Lophotettix</i> (<i>Cristatettix</i>) <b>n. subgen.</b> (including only <i>L.</i> (<i>Cristatettix</i>) <i>zumbadoi</i> (Barranco, 2010) and <i>Lophotettix</i> (<i>Lophotettix</i>) <i>s.s.</i> (grouping the remaining species). A new genus and species, <i>Paralophotettix antennalatus </i><b>n. gen. et n. sp.</b>, is described, and it is confirmed that recent records of <i>Lophotettix brevicristatus</i> Hancock, 1909&#xa0;actually correspond to the new genus here described. Consequently, the <i>L. brevicristatus</i> distribution is redefined, as it is only known based on the holotype female. It is also proposed as a new combination, <i>Paralophotettix semicristatus</i> (Kasalo &amp; Skejo, 2025) <b>n. comb.</b>, originally described in <i>Lophotettix</i>. An updated key for the identification of taxa in the subfamily is provided, along with additional records for <i>Phelene</i> species and <i>P. antennalatus </i><b>n. gen. et n. sp.</b>, based on data from iNaturalist. Finally, the classification, morphology, and diversification of the subfamily are discussed.</p>
