<p>A study was conducted during 2020-2021 to explore the diversity, species richness, evenness, relative abundance and spatial distribution pattern of mango hopper, a serious pest having the potential of causing cent per cent yield loss in Sub Himalayan region of West Bengal. During the course of investigation among five species of mango hopper, <i>Amritodus brevistylus</i> Viraktamath is the first report from this region. The most abundant species was <i>Amritodus atkinsoni</i> and the least one was <i>Idioscopus clypealis</i> observed in different seasons.The diversity of different hopper species was recorded highest during <i>kharif</i> season with maximum value of different diversity indices like Shannon (1.393), Brillouin (1.311), Simpson (0.718) and Hill (0.410).Whereas, Berger-Parker index reflected the numerical predominance of most abundant species, <i>Amritodus atkinsoni</i>, recorded during Rabi season (0.417). Based on the Akaike Information Criterion value and Species Abundance Distribution models, the community structure of mango hopper species in the ecological community followed the null model which was found as best fit model.On the basis of analysis of various mathematical indices and models, the spatial distribution of mango hoppers in the orchard was determined as aggregated distribution.</p>
