Rhynocoris fuscipes is an important predator of various agroforestry pests in tropical and subtropical regions. To investigate the effects of temperature and photoperiod on the development and reproduction of Rhynocoris fuscipes, various indoor conditions were combined involving temperatures of 24℃, 28℃, and 32℃, along with different photoperiods of 24L:0D, 18 L:6D, 12 L:12D, 6L:18D, and 0 L:24D. The aim was to assess their effects on several aspects: developmental period, survival rate, emergence rate, adult longevity, pre-oviposition, oviposition quantity, and ovum hatching rate in Rhynocoris fuscipes nymphs. The findings revealed the significant effects of temperature and photoperiod on nymph development. Specifically, the developmental period was shortened as the photoperiod increased during equivalent temperature. Moreover, the survival rate showed an initial increasing and then decreasing trend as the photoperiod increased, while pre-oviposition duration increased as the photoperiod reduced. Under the same photoperiod, nymph development time decreased as temperatures increased, and pre-oviposition duration shortened as temperatures increased. Notably, Rhynocoris fuscipes exhibited the highest number of ova produced and oviposition of single female at 32℃ and 18 L:6D conditions, which was 5.33 ± 0.82 and 104.79 ± 22.71. Considering the comprehensive assessment of growth, development, and reproduction indicators, maintaining a temperature range of 28–32℃ and a photoperiod of 18 L:6D is deemed optimal for the scaling up and reproduction of Rhynocoris fuscipes.

摘要
