<p>To revise recent records and research information on flat mite (Acari: Tenuipalpidae) fauna of India, a new updated checklist of Tenuipalpid mites with their distribution and host plant records from India has been prepared based on the critical review of existing literature, published reports and recent findings. We can say 101 recorded and described species under 15 different genera of tenuipalpid mites with two new host plant records from India. Among all recorded host plants, <i>Justicia adhatoda</i> L. and <i>Mangifera indica</i> L. are reported first time from India as a new host plant of <i>Brevipalpus mitrofanovi</i> (Pegazzano, 1975) and <i>Cenopalpus picitilis</i> Chaudhri, 1971respectively. The revised and updated Indian flat mite checklist holds 101 described species of Tenuipalpidae comprising of 47 species (46.53%) of <i>Tenuipalpus</i>; 19 species (18.81%) of <i>Brevipalpus</i>; 7 species (6.93%) of <i>Dolichotetranychus</i>; 6 species (5.94%) of <i>Terminalichus</i>; 4 each species (3.96%) of <i>Aegyptobia</i> and<i>Raoiella</i>; 3 species (2.97%) of <i>Ultratenuipalpus</i>; 2 each species (1.98%) of <i>Cenopalpus,Priscapalpus</i> and <i>Tenuilichus</i>; 1 each species (0.99%) of <i>Krugeria</i><i>, </i><i>Larvacarus</i><i>, </i><i>Obuloides, Pentamerismus</i> and <i>Phytoptipalpus</i> placed under 15 different genera.</p>
