<p>Insect-pests and their changing scenario after the introduction of <i>Bt-</i>cotton (Bollgard® and Bollgard II®) are posing serious threat to the cotton crop in India. Since the introduction of <i>Bt-</i>cotton till 2018, the management strategies were mainly focused on sucking insect pests. However, after the development of resistance in pink bollworm to <i>Bt-</i>cotton post this period in north India a revision in integrated pest management tactics was done considering the factors like small land holding, wide sowing window and cropping intensity. An Integrated Insect –Pest Management schedule with multiple management options including botanicals (Nimbicidine) and biological agents (<i>Trichogramma bacterae</i>, <i>Verticillium lecanii</i> and <i>Beauveria bassiana</i>) was devised and revalidated at five locations of the North zone and compared with general farmer’s practices (more reliant on insecticidal interventions) during <i>Kharif</i> seasons of 2022 and 2023. The average sucking pest population during study period particularly whitefly counts in IPM (14.77/3 leaves) was significantly less than the farmer’s practice (22.30/3 leaves). Similarly green boll damage due to pink bollworm in Integrated Insect-Pest Management practice (8.49%) was significantly less than the farmer’s practice (12.21%). During both the years, the adoption of Integrated Insect-Pest Management practice not only managed the pest population below Economic Threshold Level (ETL), as indicated by number of times (3.2 and 5.9 in whitefly, 1.4 and 2.5 in jassids and 1.2 and 1.7 in thrips in IPM and FP, respectively) the insect-pests crossed ETL. This resulted in reduced number of interventions applied against insect-pests 5.2 in IPM as compared to 7.2 in farmers practice plot in year 2022, while 7.6 in IPM as compared to 10.2 in farmers practice plot in the 2023 and associated cost of protection was higher in farmer’s practice as compared to IPM in year 2022 (Rs. 14,925.40 and Rs. 9053, respectively) and 2023 (Rs. 21,065.80 and Rs.13809.20, respectively) which led to increase in yield as well as higher Incremental Cost Benefit Ratio (ICBR) in 2022(2.3) and 2023 (1.08).</p>
