<p>This article does not focus on the political handling of Islamism as such, but rather on its broader impact on the political discourse in Germany. By examining the parliamentary debate on how to address the climate activist group “Letzte Generation” (last generation), it traces how (in)security narratives that have been linked to (Islamist) terrorism over the last two decades are now being adopted in other areas. Based on the observation of a&#xa0;‘discursive imbalance’ in the current socio-political debate, the article examines where and how narrative parallels to the “fight against terrorism” become visible in the discourse on “Letzte Generation”. To this end, findings on the German counterterrorism discourse are compiled and contrasted with a&#xa0;narrative analysis of the parliamentary debates concerning the “Letzte Generation”. The article reveals a&#xa0;transfer of narrative patterns that originate from the fight against terrorism and how attempts are being made to utilise their established legitimising power politically in a&#xa0;different context.</p>
