<p>Based on a critical consultation of the protologue, original material, and relevant literature, <i>Euonymus theifolius</i> Wall. ex M.A. Lawson is here reduced to a heterotypic synonym of <i>E. vagans</i> Wall., owing to the broad range of leaf variation observed in the latter. <i>Euonymus vagans</i> Wall. subsp. <i>macrophyllus</i> Kanjilal, P.C. Kanjilal, Das &amp; Purkayastha was treated as a heterotypic synonym of <i>E. bockii</i> Loes. ex Diels by Ma (<CitationRef CitationID="CR4">2001</CitationRef>); however, the former name is assessed here not to be validly published.</p>
