<p>The present study focuses on assessing the lichen diversity in the Maihar and Satna districts, located in the north-central Vindhyachal region of Madhya Pradesh. A total of 64 lichen species were recorded, representing 29 genera and 13 families. Notably, five species namely <i>Baculifera remensa, Lichinella flexa, Peltula steppae</i>, <i>Pyrenopsis triptococca,</i> and <i>Sclerophora pallida</i> are reported new to lichen biota of Madhya Pradesh, hence nine species new to Satna lichen biota. Due to its large geographical area, Satna district showed the maximum diversity with 57 species followed by Maihar district with 17 species. Among the recorded growth forms, crustose lichens were dominant with 37 species, followed by squamulose and foliose forms with 13 species each. The specimens were collected from various sites within the region, and a detailed systematic account is presented. A concise account of the recently reported taxa from central India is included here.</p>
