<p>The present study reports the microbial degradation of chlorpyrifos, which is reported to be toxic at a trace level. To mitigate this environmental pollutant various conventional methods are involved which are not feasible. The microbial degradation is one of the best-suited methods discussed in the present study. The study also reports various research for efficient microbial degradation of chlorpyrifos under optimized parameters. It also highlights the metabolic pathways and their diversity in microbial degradation to reduce it completely and partially, aiming to minimize the risks posed by chlorpyrifos. The study envisions one of the most sustainable approaches to remediate chlorpyrifos under the growth conditions of microbiota.</p>
