<p><i>Smithia grandis</i> Benth. ex Baker, an endemic to northeast India, has been rediscovered from a new locality in the same region after more than a century. Since the collection by Griffith and Hooker in 1817–1911, the species has been known only by its type specimens. A detailed taxonomic description, illustration, distribution map, and photographs are provided for easy identification of the species. The species is assessed here as critically endangered (CR).</p>

Smithia grandis Benth. ex Baker, an endemic to northeast India, has been rediscovered from a new locality in the same region after more than a century. Since the collection by Griffith and Hooker in 1817–1911, the species has been known only by its type specimens. A detailed taxonomic description, illustration, distribution map, and photographs are provided for easy identification of the species. The species is assessed here as critically endangered (CR).
