<p>The current study was conducted during the <i>kharif</i> 2022 to assess 32 genotypes of urdbean germplasm concerning yield-contributing traits. Statistical analysis revealed significant variations among the genotypes across twelve traits, highlighting a substantial amount of genetic diversity in the experimental subjects. This research prioritised traits displaying high heritability and genetic variability to identify genotypes suitable for improved yield. Notably, pod weight per plant, harvest index, number of pods per plant, seed yield per plant, and plant height exhibited substantial Genetic Coefficient of Variation (GCV), indicating minimal environmental influence on their variation. The phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) is greater than the genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV). Among the traits measured, PCV was highest for pod weight per plant, followed by harvest index, seed yield per plant, number of pods per plant, and plant height. The study identified pod weight per plant as having the highest heritability, recorded at 94.97%. Additional traits, such as harvest index, number of pods per plant, plant height and seed yield per plant, also demonstrated significant heritability. This research highlights the potential for effective selection and crop improvement strategies, showcasing considerable genetic advances in traits, including pod weight per plant, harvest index, number of pods per plant, seed yield per plant, plant height, biological yield per plant, germination percentage, and the number of seeds per pod.</p>
