Prevalence of antibiotic resistance: an alarming threat for human

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an urgent global public health problem that represents a significant threat to human health. Improper use of antimicrobial agents, particularly antibiotics, have been identified as an important factor that contributes to the appearance and spread of resistant bacterial strains to antibiotics. This review article aims to explore the trouble caused by antimicrobial resistance and highlight recent scientific research focused on developing effective intervention strategies. One of the major challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance is rapid acquisition of bacterial resistance to antimicrobial agents. Goal of recent scientific research is to improve the understanding of mechanisms that lead to the acquisition of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and to create new forms of intervention. This program has significant potential to prevent the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in coastal communities, where exposure to contaminated water can pose a significant health risk.
