Enhanced growth and suppression of fusarium wilt in Tomato plants through the action of Rhizophagus intraradices and Trichoderma viride

The trajectory of agricultural progress in the 21st century is poised towards reducing reliance on agrochemical inputs, with beneficial microorganisms offering a viable avenue for achieving this goal. This study aimed to assess and compare the impact of Rhizophagus intraradices (mycorrhizal fungus) and Trichoderma viride (biological control agent) on the growth of tomato and Fusarium wilt. R. intraradices and T. viride demonstrated comparable effectiveness in reducing disease incidence when compared to control plants. Both T. viride and R. intraradices exhibited similar effects on the uptake of B, Ca, Mg, Mn, S, and Si in tomato. Notably, R. intraradices induced greater accumulation of Cu, K, Mo, and Zn compared to T. viride. These findings underscore the potential of both R. intraradices and T. viride in mitigating fusarium wilt and influencing nutrient dynamics in tomato plants, offering valuable insights for sustainable agricultural practices.
