<p>During the 2024 US presidential election, a new round of debate emerged within the US strategic community regarding the “end state” of its strategy toward China. The main viewpoints in the debate include “regime-based end state” narrative, “order-based end state” narrative, “policy-based end state” narrative, and “no end state” narrative. The debate indicates that the US strategic perception of China is becoming increasingly negative. At this point in time, it is difficult to predict which of these viewpoints will be adopted by the Trump administration should he assume office. A consensus on the “end state” within the US strategic community is still far from being formed.</p>
