Test for Mean Projective Shape Change and 3D Object Identification from its Digital Camera Images

Recent advances in 3D scene reconstruction using the Agisoft Metashape software are used for extracting 3D configuration data from their 2D digital imaging camera outputs. 3D scenes are compared via two-sample tests for their mean projective shapes. Our methodology for addressing this hypothesis testing problem is extrinsic, exploiting the Lie group structure of the three-dimensional projective space, naturally inherited from the group structure of the unit quaternion sphere. Applications to 3D bioshape analysis for data extracted from digital camera images of shells are given. For small samples, the tests are run via on nonparametric bootstrap.
