<p>This paper is about a&#xa0;new auxiliary sphere which could be used as the intermediate surface in an aphylactic (neither equal-area nor conformal) double mapping for regional maps. It has practically no linear distortion (average linear scale is between 0.99999 and 1.00001) for a&#xa0;latitude band approximately 20° wide. The study contains the formulae to derive this low-distortion sphere and some thoughts on practical usability.</p>

摘要
