Investigation of Partially Submerged Rectangular Plate Modeshapes Through Eigenvectors in a Fluid Domain

The main purpose was to investigate the distorted nodal pattern of partially wet modeshapes at different level of immersion in a fluid theoretically. Moreover, the distorted pattern is explained through Eigenvector mathematically.
MethodThe Rayleigh-Ritz method was used to understand the partially submerged modeshapes mathematically.
ResultsThe Rayleigh-Ritz method was used to determine the Eigen value problem. This eigenvalue problem was used to obtain frequency parameters and partially submerged modeshapes at various immersion levels.
ConclusionsDifferent submergence level leads to change in Eigenvector matrix, the domination of other elements in the Eigenvector matrix start increasing which leads to the different nodal pattern and distorted nodal pattern. This happen because of the participation of the fluid kinetic energy strongly and other reason is that fluid kinetic energy is not proper aligned to the solid plate kinetic energy in case of partially submerged rectangular CCCF plate.
