摘要

Introduction

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) continues to be a major worldwide health problem, especially for immunocompromised individuals and the elderly.

Methodology

Diagnostic methods include radiological, microbiological, and molecular testing, as well as clinical examination.

Results

Appropriate antibiotic medication, prompt diagnosis, and identification of the causing microorganisms are essential for effective care. Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and atypical bacteria are common etiological agents. Since β-lactams, macrolides, and fluoroquinolones are often utilized, empirical antibiotic treatment that is informed by local resistance trends is essential. Tools for risk assessment, such as PSI and CURB-65, help with therapy choices.

Conclusion

In order to improve CAP results and lower mortality, more research is needed on novel medicines, resistance patterns, and quick diagnoses.
